Baldwin & Bowman was built on a simple belief — everyone deserves a real shot at homeownership.

We are Michael Baldwin and Emmanuel Bowman, two U.S. Navy veterans who served our country before turning our discipline, work ethic, and attention to detail toward something closer to home: real estate.

Michael grew up in Paterson, New Jersey. Emmanuel was raised in Chicago, Illinois. Different cities, different upbringings — but the same values. The Navy taught us both the same lessons: show up, do the work right, and take care of the people around you. Those lessons never left us.

Where It Started

Long before Baldwin & Bowman existed as a company, it existed as two homeowners figuring things out. We each bought our own homes, took on our own rental properties, and learned — often the hard way — what it really takes to rehab a house, manage a property, and build lasting value from real estate. We made mistakes. We fixed them. We got better.

That hands-on experience is proven, not theoretical. We didn't read about rehabbing homes — we did it, on our own properties, with our own money on the line.

Why We're Doing This on a Larger Scale

After years of applying what we learned to our own homes, the next step became clear: take what worked and scale it — for our communities, not just for ourselves.

Michael has spent the last decade supporting people on their journey to homeownership and currently serves as a board member of the Virginia Housing and Development Corporation. That work sits at the heart of why Baldwin & Bowman exists. Because we've seen firsthand how much a stable, affordable home can transform a family's future, we're committed to making that possible for more people.
